Niyabagam Varuthe Full Story Explained (2007)

Niyabagam Varuthe opens with S.P.B. Charan's character, a school teacher named Raju, driving home late at night. A truck hits his car on a dark bridge and Raju falls into the river below. He is rescued by villagers but wakes up with no memory of his past. His wife Lakshmi, played by Suhasini, rushes to the hospital but Raju does not recognize her. Their two young children visit him but he looks at them like strangers. The doctors say his amnesia might be permanent if he does not get emotional triggers to unlock his memories.

Lakshmi brings Raju home and tries to help him remember their life together. She shows him their wedding album, his favorite books, and the tree where they first met. But nothing works. Raju feels frustrated and depressed. He starts wandering around the village alone, trying to find something that feels familiar. Meanwhile, a local businessman named Sathyam, played by Venkat Prabhu, watches Raju's every move with nervous eyes. Sathyam was the driver of the truck that hit Raju, and he knows Raju witnessed him dumping a dead body into the river that night.

Sathyam spreads rumors that Raju is faking his memory loss to avoid work. He tells the villagers that Raju is lazy and dishonest. Some people start believing Sathyam and treat Raju coldly. Raju's children face bullying at school because of the rumors. Lakshmi struggles to keep the family together while her husband remains emotionally distant. Raju begins having nightmares about a man being pushed off a bridge. He sees flashes of a red shirt and a gold chain. These fragments of memory terrify him because he does not understand them.

One night, Raju finds a locked box in the attic. Inside is a diary Lakshmi wrote during their first year of marriage. As he reads her words about their love, their fights, and their dreams, his memories start returning in pieces. He remembers the night of the accident clearly now. He saw Sathyam arguing with a man on the bridge. The man was a loan shark who had threatened Sathyam's family. Sathyam pushed him into the river and then saw Raju watching from his car. That is when Sathyam rammed his truck into Raju's car to silence him.

Raju confronts Sathyam in front of the entire village. Sathyam tries to run but the villagers block his path. The police arrive and arrest Sathyam for murder and attempted murder. Raju's memory is fully restored and he hugs his wife and children. The family finally feels whole again. The movie ends with Raju returning to his teaching job, his students cheering as he walks into the classroom. Lakshmi watches from the window with a smile, knowing her husband is finally back.
