A Gift That Feels Like A Curse

Guru is a normal college student who loves sports and his girlfriend Abhinaya. But strange visions keep flashing inside his head. He sees accidents, fights, and even a stabbing before they happen. These visions always come true, and they terrify him.

Full Plot

Gurumoorthy, called Guru by everyone, is an MBA student and a talented athlete living in Chennai. He falls in love with Abhinaya, the daughter of a wealthy businessman named Anand Chellaiah. Their love story is sweet and simple — they meet, they date, and they want to get married. But Guru has a secret that changes everything. He keeps having strange visions inside his mind. He sees accidents, fights, and violent events before they happen. A psychiatrist tells him he has Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) — he can see the future. The worst vision comes next: Guru sees himself stabbing Abhinaya in the stomach. Terrified that he might actually hurt her, Guru decides to run away to Mumbai. He leaves Abhinaya and his family without any explanation, hoping to keep her safe.

In Mumbai, Guru stumbles upon a shocking sight — a man who looks exactly like him. This man is Prasad, a selfish, money-minded womaniser who does anything for cash. Before Guru can catch him, he gets into an accident. Meanwhile, Prasad travels to Chennai. On the train, he meets Dhanalakshmi, a young woman, and sleeps with her before abandoning her. In Chennai, Abhinaya sees Prasad and mistakes him for Guru. She brings him to her house, thinking her lover has returned. Prasad realises his opportunity: he can pretend to be Guru and marry the rich Abhinaya. He plays the role perfectly, fooling everyone — Abhinaya, her father, and even Guru's own parents.

The real Guru recovers and returns to Chennai. He tries to tell everyone the truth, but Prasad has already poisoned their minds. Prasad makes Guru look like a liar and a troublemaker. No one believes the real Guru. His parents think he is crazy. Abhinaya trusts Prasad more. Guru feels completely alone. The tension builds until a final confrontation between the two look-alikes. During their fight, Guru tries to kill Prasad, but he accidentally stabs Abhinaya — exactly as his vision predicted. Guru rushes her to the hospital. Prasad knocks Guru out and switches clothes with him, so he looks like Guru when Abhinaya wakes up.

At the hospital, Abhinaya recovers. She sees Prasad (still in Guru's clothes) and thinks he is the real Guru. She tells him how much she hates Prasad and how deeply she loves Guru. Hearing this breaks Prasad's heart. He feels guilty for the first time in his life. He confesses the truth to Abhinaya. Just then, the real Guru enters the room. Prasad apologises sincerely and leaves as a reformed man. As Prasad walks away from the hospital, Dhanalakshmi appears. She tells him she is pregnant — with twins. Prasad happily accepts her and his new responsibility. The film ends with Prasad and Dhanalakshmi together, and Guru and Abhinaya getting married. Both couples find their happy ending, and the look-alike who once caused chaos becomes a better man.

Themes

Love And Sacrifice

Guru loves Abhinaya so much that he leaves her to protect her. He sacrifices his own happiness to keep her safe. Abhinaya's love for Guru also stays strong even when she thinks he has changed. Their love wins in the end.

Redemption And Change

Prasad starts as a selfish womaniser who only cares about money. But when he hears Abhinaya's honest words, he feels guilty and changes. He confesses the truth and accepts responsibility for Dhanalakshmi and their twins. The film shows that people can change if they choose to.

Fate Vs Free Will

Guru sees the future, but he tries to change it. He runs away to avoid stabbing Abhinaya, but the vision still comes true. The film suggests that some events are fated, but how we respond to them is our choice. Guru's love and Prasad's redemption are choices, not fate.
