Veyil (2006) is a Tamil-language crime drama film written and directed by Vasanthabalan. It stars Pasupathy, Bharath, Bhavana, and Priyanka Nair. The story follows two brothers from a rural Tamil village. The elder brother, Murugesan, runs away from home after being publicly humiliated by his father. He returns 20 years later as a broken alcoholic. The film explores his struggle to reconnect with his family and his ultimate sacrifice. Produced by director Shankar, the film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. It was praised for its raw realism, strong performances, and emotional depth. The music was composed by debutant G.V. Prakash Kumar. Cinematography was handled by Madhi and Azhagappan.
