Trivia
- The film's title 'Sivakasi' is a real town in Tamil Nadu famous for fireworks, but the movie has no connection to the place.
- Director Perarasu reused the same basic plot from his earlier film 'Thirupaachi', swapping the sibling conflict from brothers to brother-sister.
- This was the first Tamil film where actor Vijay wore a full beard throughout, a look that became popular with his fans.
- The song 'Kadhal Valarthen' was shot in just two days at a Mumbai studio to save production costs.
- Actress Asin was initially hesitant to accept the role, as her character had less screen time compared to the male leads.
- The climax fight scene used over 100 junior artists and took nearly a week to film in a specially constructed set.
- Despite mixed reviews, the film was a major commercial success, running over 100 days in many centers across Tamil Nadu.
