Julie Ganapathi is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language psychological thriller film written, photographed, edited, and directed by Balu Mahendra. It stars Jayaram as Tenkasi Balakumaran, a famous screenwriter, alongside Saritha as the obsessive fan Julie Ganapathy, and Ramya Krishnan as Vijaya. The story follows Tenkasi, who is rescued from a car crash by Julie, a devoted fan of his television show 'Manga'. She takes him to her home and holds him captive, forcing him to write only for her. The film is a remake of the 1990 Hollywood film 'Misery', based on Stephen King's novel. It was praised for Saritha's intense performance and Mahendra's atmospheric direction. The movie was released on February 1, 2003, in India.
