Trivia
- The film's title 'Golmaal' is a Hindi word meaning mischief or confusion, which was unusual for a Tamil movie at the time.
- Director Selva also played the lead role, a dual responsibility he took on early in his filmmaking career.
- The movie was shot in just 30 days, a very short schedule for a feature film in the late 1990s.
- Actress Monica Nerukkar, who played Aishwarya, was a popular model making her Tamil cinema debut with this film.
- The comedy track involving the three 'terrorists' was inspired by the style of classic Tamil slapstick comedies from the 1980s.
- The film's soundtrack by composer Sirpy included a hit song 'Kadhal Vandhale' that gained popularity on radio channels.
- Despite being a comedy, the plot revolves around a fake hostage situation, a concept not commonly seen in Tamil films of that period.
