Kadavul (1997) is a Tamil-language anti-theist drama film directed by Velu Prabhakaran. The cast includes Velu Prabhakaran, Manivannan, Arun Pandian, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Roja. The story follows Rajapandi, an atheist who challenges God to become human after being beaten by religious devotees. God appears as a normal man and observes the caste violence, political corruption, and social injustice in a Tamil village. The film features a soundtrack composed by Ilaiyaraaja with lyrics by Pulamaipithan. It received mixed reviews but won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Screenplay Writer. Kadavul was released on 5 December 1997.

Storyline
An angry atheist named Rajapandi challenges God to come down to Earth and see human suffering. To his shock, God actually appears as a normal man. As God walks through the village, he witnesses caste hatred, political murder, and broken love. Rajapandi must confront his own beliefs while fighting a corrupt politician who controls the village.
