Ponnumani is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by R. V. Udayakumar. The film stars Karthik, Soundarya in her Tamil debut, and Sivakumar. It tells the story of a village man whose childhood sweetheart returns home mentally broken after being assaulted. The film explores themes of unconditional love, justice, and sacrifice. It was shot entirely at Sethumadai near Pollachi. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with one song by his son Karthik Raja. Karthik won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Tamil for his performance. The film was a box office superhit upon its release on April 16, 1993.
