Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack, with lyrics by Vaali. The Indian Express critic N. Krishnaswamy praised the film for its elemental power and strong performances. Storyline

Ponrasu returns to his village after studying in the city. He loves Chinna Thayee, but her mother opposes the relationship. His father is a fake godman who controls the village through fear. When Chinna Thayee becomes pregnant, dark secrets explode. Ponrasu must choose between his father's lies and the woman he loves.
