Trivia
- The film was a remake of the 1988 Malayalam film 'Vellanakalude Nadu', which was also directed by Priyadarshan.
- This was one of the earliest Tamil films for noted art director Sabu Cyril, who later won a National Award.
- Composer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, primarily a singer, provided the film's music score.
- The film's climax was shot at the famous Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur.
- Actor Janakaraj, who played the peon, was a frequent collaborator in Priyadarshan's early comedies.
- The movie's title translates to 'At the Temple Gateway', referencing a key location in the plot.
- Despite the director's later reputation for loud comedies, this film had a more subtle, character-driven humor.
