Set in a fictitious college in Kerala, the film is about a Tamil student who gets bullied and oppressed there by the local political outfit. While Manjummel Boys was all in favor of camaraderie between the two states, Rebel seems to be towing a fine line as it deals with the harassment meted out to Tamils in Kerala.
