Trivia

  • This was Prabhas's second film as a lead actor, released just a year after his debut in 'Eeswar' (2001).
  • The film's director, Jayant Paranji, was known for family dramas but tried a more rustic, action-oriented story here.
  • Actress Revathi, who played the stepmother, was already a major star in Tamil and Malayalam cinema when she took this supporting role.
  • The movie was shot extensively in the old Dhoolpet area of Hyderabad to capture the slum setting authentically.
  • Despite starring a young Prabhas, the film did not perform well commercially and is considered an early career setback for him.
  • The soundtrack by composer Chakri included a popular devotional song 'Evarevaru Ee Vela' that gained some standalone popularity.
  • This was one of the last films for veteran actor Siva Krishna, who played Prabhas's father, before his career slowed down.
