The story follows a wealthy village benefactor who refuses to marry due to a traumatic childhood involving his mother's leprosy. The film is a remake of the Tamil film Maayi. It was launched on 5 February 2001 at Annapurna Studios. The soundtrack, composed by S. A. Rajkumar, features five songs shot in Ooty, Mysore, and Kodaikanal. The film received mixed critical reviews but found an audience in rural and semi-urban centers. Balakrishna was originally approached for the lead role but declined.

Storyline
