Gulabi(1996)
'Gulabi' (1995) is a Telugu romantic crime film directed by debutant Krishna Vamsi. The film stars J. D. Chakravarthy and Maheswari in lead roles. The story follows Chandu, a young man whose girlfriend Pooja is kidnapped by human traffickers and smuggled to Dubai. Chandu travels to Dubai to rescue her from a wealthy Sheikh. The film is inspired by a real-life incident of a girl rescued from a Dubai Sheikh. It was produced by Ram Gopal Varma and Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited. 'Gulabi' received positive reviews and was a box office hit. It won two Nandi Awards, including Best First Film of a Director for Krishna Vamsi. The film was later remade in Hindi as 'Aashiq' (2001).

Storyline
