Trivia
- The title 'Kartavya' is a Sanskrit word meaning 'duty' or 'obligation,' making it a pointed choice for a story about a police officer torn between protecting his family and upholding the law.
- Hindi cinema has a long tradition of the 'conflicted cop' narrative — from Ardh Satya (1983) to Singham (2011) — and Kartavya enters that lineage by centering its tension on a personal, domestic threat rather than a grand institutional one.
- A film with the same title was released in 1995, starring Sanjay Dutt as a police officer navigating duty and family loyalty, giving the 2026 version a thematic predecessor that audiences familiar with classic Hindi cinema may recognise.
- The Crime-Thriller combination is among the most commercially reliable genre pairings in contemporary Hindi cinema, with recent successes like Article 15 and Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai showing audiences' appetite for grounded, morally complex police stories.
- Setting personal stakes — a threatened family — at the heart of a thriller is a well-worn device in Indian storytelling, drawing on the cultural weight placed on family as the ultimate moral anchor for a protagonist.
- Director Pulkit, known for working in the Hindi film industry, brings a crime-drama sensibility to the project at a time when OTT platforms have significantly raised audience expectations for tight, procedural storytelling in the genre.
