Storyline
A college student sitting alone in his hostel room makes a phone call with a complete stranger—someone he's never met before and knows absolutely nothing about. What he initially thinks will be a quick, simple business transaction quickly becomes something far more unsettling, uncomfortable, and emotionally complex. As their conversation gradually unfolds over time, the young man finds himself forced to face difficult and deeply uncomfortable questions about his own choices, his personal values, and exactly who he's willing to become.
“Desperation calls. A stranger answers.”

Trivia
- Body Cut is set entirely within the confined space of a hostel room, a deliberate choice that forces the audience to sit with the protagonist's discomfort and vulnerability.
- The film explores the quiet desperation of urban youth through a single transactional phone call — a storytelling device that strips away distraction and keeps tension entirely on performance.
- Director Hazmil Hussain uses the short film format to examine themes that mainstream Malayalam cinema rarely addresses head-on: loneliness, economic pressure, and the compromises young people make in private.
- The premise of a stranger-to-stranger call mirrors how digital platforms have changed intimacy — a theme that resonates strongly with Kerala's large population of students living away from home in hostels.
- Single-location dramas like Body Cut have gained traction in Malayalam indie filmmaking as a low-budget entry point that demands strong writing and acting above all else.
- The word 'transactional' in the synopsis does a lot of heavy lifting — it signals a relationship defined by exchange rather than connection, which sits at the emotional core of the film.
- Body Cut joins a growing wave of Malayalam short films from younger directors who are bypassing traditional routes and reaching audiences directly through film festival circuits and digital platforms.
