Storyline

Three men pull off a robbery on a freezing winter night in rural Haryana, stealing an ATM and hiding it in a tube well room, convinced they've pulled off the perfect crime. But paranoia and mistrust spread quickly among them, poisoning what little trust existed, and as the long, exhausting night wears on, tension builds dangerously. Their fragile partnership shatters completely under the pressure, and their entire desperate operation collapses into absolute chaos, violence, and bitter betrayal.

A fortune stolen. Trust shattered.

Trivia

  • The film's title 'Momacu' is rooted in Haryanvi dialect, signalling a deliberate choice to stay close to the region's native voice rather than sanitise the story for a broader urban audience.
  • Setting the entire film on a single freezing winter night is a classic pressure-cooker technique — with nowhere to go and no time to think, every character's true nature surfaces fast.
  • The tube well room, a small pump house found on almost every farm in Haryana, is one of the most unglamorous hiding spots in recent Hindi crime cinema, and that mundane detail gives the film its raw, grounded texture.
  • Real ATM thefts in rural North India have made regional headlines for years, with gangs physically uprooting machines and carting them away — a detail that makes the premise feel less like fiction and more like a news report.
  • Haryana's winters are genuinely brutal, with temperatures plunging near freezing in the dead of the night, so the cold is not just atmosphere — it is a physical antagonist the three men are trapped with.
  • Director Kuldeep Kunal uses the three-man dynamic to explore how desperation curdles into distrust the moment money is within reach — a tension that Hindi crime films from Gulzar's era to recent dark thrillers have returned to repeatedly.
  • By keeping the story hyper-local — rural Haryana, one night, one stolen machine — the film belongs to a small but growing wave of Hindi-language crime dramas that reject big cities and big stars in favour of authentic regional detail.
