Trivia
- The film was originally titled 'Ego' but was later renamed 'Ego: The Train Journey' for its release.
- Director S. Sakthivel was also the film's editor, a dual role not common in Tamil cinema at the time.
- The movie's plot is set almost entirely on a moving train, a challenging single-location shoot.
- Actor Jai's character name, Eswar, is a nod to his breakthrough role in the 2004 film 'Chennai 600028'.
- The film's soundtrack by S. Thaman includes a song, 'Kadhal Vandhale', that was reused from his Telugu score for 'Businessman'.
- Despite being a comedy, the film incorporates themes of family pressure and elopement common in rural Tamil dramas.
- It was one of the few films from 2013 to feature a narrative driven by a chance encounter during a train journey.
