N. Shankar Dayal was an Indian film director and screenwriter who worked in Tamil cinema, best known for directing the political satire Saguni (2012) starring Karthi and Pranitha. His debut feature Saguni drew on the Mahabharata character Shakuni to tell the story of a farmer who outwits corrupt politicians, and featured a supporting cast that included Prakash Raj, Santhanam, Raadhika Sarathkumar, and Nassar. His directorial style centered on societal commentary and political themes, as also reflected in his 2024 film Kuzhanthaigal Munnetra Sangam. Shankar Dayal passed away on December 19, 2024.
