His career trajectory is defined by his role as the founder and chairman of the production and distribution company Kalaipuli International. Sekharan established himself as a significant figure by backing projects featuring major stars and directors, often involving substantial budgets and pan-Indian appeal. A key aspect of his contribution lies in his willingness to finance large-scale, ambitious films that other producers might consider financially risky. This includes producing several films for actor Rajinikanth during critical phases, such as 'Baba' (2002) and 'Kochadaiiyaan' (2014), demonstrating his commitment to high-stakes projects. His filmography also includes notable works like 'Muthu' (1995), which achieved significant success in Japan, and 'Petta' (2019). Beyond production, his influence extends to film distribution, where his company has played a major role in the release and marketing of numerous Tamil films across domestic and international markets. While not without controversies regarding film delays and financial disputes, his persistent presence as a financier and producer has provided a platform for several major commercial ventures in Kollywood. His legacy is that of a formidable industry insider whose financial backing and distribution network have facilitated the creation of big-budget, star-driven cinema, impacting the commercial landscape and market reach of Tamil films.
