Ananthu (born Ananthakrishnan in Kandiramanickam near Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu) was a Tamil cinema screenwriter and director, best known as a long-time collaborator and dialogue writer for filmmaker K. Balachander. He wrote screenplays for acclaimed films including Aval Appadithan, Raja Paarvai, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Anjali, and Gunaa, working closely with actors like Kamal Haasan across multiple productions. Sigaram (1991), his only directorial credit, was produced by Kavithalayaa Productions and starred Anand Babu, S. P.
