Shashikumar (born Shashikumar Nayak) is a Kannada cinema actor and politician, widely known as the 'Supreme Hero' of Kannada films in the late 1980s and 1990s. He debuted as a villain in Chiranjeevi Sudhakara (1988) and rose to stardom with back-to-back hits Rani Maharani and Baare Nanna Muddina Rani (both 1990), frequently co-starring opposite actress Malashri. He appeared in Tamil films as well, playing Shiva — Rajinikanth's brother — in the blockbuster Baashha (1995). After a car accident in 1998 curtailed his leading-man career, he transitioned to politics and won a seat in the Indian Parliament representing the Chitradurga constituency.
