Tamil Cinema's first mimicry artist passed away

Well known in Tamil Cinema as the first Mimicry artist, ‘Rocket’ Ramanathan had been a veteran actor. His movies, ‘Puzhaangulal Oodhukirathu’, ‘Sparisam’, ‘Vazharthakadaa’, ‘Mannsooru’, ‘Koyil Yaanai’ and ‘Varam’ had his mimicry works and were familiarize through these movies. Being honored with ‘Kalaimamani Award’ from Tamil Nadu Government and ‘Kalaiselvan Award from Nadigar Sangam’, the 74yearold Ramanathan had passed away yesterday in Chennai.

With the residence near Srinivasa Perumal Temple at Royapettah, Ramanathan had been staying with his wife, Banumathi along with daughter Sai Bala and son Sai Guru Balaji. Considering his death to be a great loss to Tamil Film Industry, South Indian Nadigar Sangam has conveyed the deepest condolences to rest his soul in peace.
