Veteran Kollywood music composer Ilaiyaraaja who is the first Indian to compose a full symphony at London has new feathers in his cap. He has been awarded with ‘Centenary Award for Indian Personality of the Year’ at the International Film Festival of India at Goa on November 20.

The opening ceremony marked honouring the Maestro for his outstanding contribution to music industry from Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley and Anil Kapoor. The only request from the legend is that the Government needs to make music as a compulsory subject in schools and colleges.

Ilaiyaraaja has put forth this humble request previously many times at several occasions as he thinks that only Music has the power to make one’s mind focus and bring down terrorism. With such a great vision for the future, he has formed one among the masterminds of music in lines of Beethoven and Mozart.
