Half Girlfriend, the recent book by Chetan Bhagat has been officially announced to be made as a movie by director Mohit Suri. It was Sushant Singh Rajput who was approached to do the male lead but stepped aside for clashes in dates.

This opportunity has been bagged by Arjun Kapoor who is currently working in Balki’s Ki and Ka with Kareena Kapoor. He is also preparing himself for the role by learning Bhojpuri language as the story is based upon the linguistic differences between the main leads.

He is also playing basketball two hours a day to fit best into the role. To take a note, he had earlier done the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s another book ‘2 States’ with Alia Bhatt and made it a blockbuster hit.

However the female lead character Riya was reported to be played by Shraddha Kapoor who will pair with Arjun for the first time. The movie is expected to run on floors from February at locations like Bihar where the protagonist hails from and also at Mumbai, New York and London.
