Karthik Subburaj's next flick is a silent movie

Karthik Subburaj, the director Pizza, Jigarthanda and Iraivi is now directing Merkuri starring Prabhu Deva in the lead role. Sanath Reddy, Deepak Paramesh and Ramya Nembeesan are also playing major roles in the movie. The movie is filmed by Thiru, music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan and Editing of the movie is done by Vivek Harshan.

Karthik Subburaj is making a complete silent movie like Pesum padam (1987) directed by Sangeetham Srinivasa Rao in which Kamal Hassan and Amala in the leading roles. After 30 years of Pesum Padam Karthik Subburaj is making a movie in the same genre. This is the first time Prabhu Deva will be rendering a villainic role in his career. Since Merkuri shooting got wrapped up post production works are going in a quick pace.

As there are no dialogues in the movie sound design and background score will be the pillars of the movie.
