Genelia D'Souza (born 5 August 1987) is an Indian actress who has worked across Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema, best known for her effervescent on-screen persona in romantic comedies. Her breakthrough came with Bommarillu (2006) opposite Siddarth, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu and a Nandi Special Jury Award, and she further cemented her popularity with Santosh Subramaniam (2008) and Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008). She built her career on vivacious, girl-next-door roles across industries — Tamil films like Sachein (2005) and Satyam (2003), Telugu films like Dhee (2007) and Orange (2010) — demonstrating consistent commercial appeal across South Indian and Bollywood markets. After a decade-long hiatus, she returned to full-time acting with Mister Mummy (2022) and made her Marathi film debut with Ved (2022), directed by her husband Riteish Deshmukh.
