• Hirani didn't want to cast Vicky in 'Sanju' at first. He thought Vicky was too young and too lean to play Sanjay Dutt's best friend. Vicky auditioned three times before Hirani finally said yes.
• On the set of 'Sanju', Hirani made Vicky shoot the same scene 15-20 times in a row — not because it was bad, but because he wanted to break Vicky's 'trained actor' habits and get a raw, unpolished take. Vicky later said that process changed how he approaches every role.
• Because of their 'Sanju' collaboration, Hirani cast Vicky in a cameo in 'Dunki' — a small role that Vicky shot in just two days. That cameo became one of the most talked-about moments in the film, and directly led to Vicky being offered a lead role in Hirani's next project (announced in 2024).
