• Director G. N. Rangarajan cast Ramarajan and Pandian together for the first time in 'Mannukkeetha Ponnu' (1985) because he wanted two fresh faces who looked like actual village boys — not city heroes pretending to be farmers. Both were relative newcomers, and the film became their breakout.
• In 'Marudhani' (1985), Ramarajan played the loud, impulsive village hothead while Pandian played the calm, wise older brother. The tension worked because Pandian deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to let Ramarajan's energy bounce off him — a rhythm they kept in all three films.
• Their third film 'Railukku Neramachu' (1988) was the first Tamil film to use a railway station as a central character — the entire story unfolds on a platform. It inspired a wave of 'single-location' Tamil films in the early 90s, including 'Pudhu Vasantham' (1990).
• Ramarajan and Pandian never spoke to each other off-camera during the shoot of 'Mannukkeetha Ponnu'. The director had told them to maintain distance so their on-screen rivalry as brothers would feel real. They only became friends after the film released and became a hit.
• Pandian once said in a 1990 interview: 'Ramarajan would finish his lines in one take, but I needed three. He made me work harder. I made him wait.'
