• Bhagyaraj handpicked Thambi Ramaiah for Rendu (2006) after seeing him in a small role in another film. He didn't audition him — just called and said 'come, I have a part written for you.' That role became the comic relief that audiences still remember.
• On the sets of Vaagai Sooda Vaa (2011), Bhagyaraj would let Thambi Ramaiah improvise his dialogue in the moment. Thambi would then look at Bhagyaraj for a nod before delivering the final take. Bhagyaraj never rehearsed those scenes — he wanted the first genuine reaction on camera.
• After Mupparimanam (2017) flopped, the two stopped talking for nearly two years. Thambi later admitted in an interview that Bhagyaraj felt he had let the film down by not pushing back on a weak script. They patched up only when a mutual friend forced them into the same room.
