• They first worked together in Ayaash (1982) because the director, Mohan Segal, needed a pair that could handle both comedy and drama. Sujit Kumar, already a known name, specifically asked for Beena Banerjee after seeing her stage work — he felt she had the timing to match his loud, physical style.
• In Jaag Utha Insan (1984), Sujit Kumar deliberately slowed down his delivery in every scene with Beena. He told the crew he did it because she had a quieter, more internal way of reacting — if he rushed, her pauses would look like mistakes. He let her set the rhythm.
