• Aruldoss once said in an interview: 'Appukutty doesn't act — he just becomes the character. I had to stay sharp because he'd throw a new joke at me every take. If I laughed, the scene was ruined.'
• Appukutty was a last-minute replacement in Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai (2011). The director originally wanted a bigger name, but Appukutty's audition — where he brought his own horse to the set — convinced the team. Aruldoss was already cast, and the two ended up building the film's entire comic rhythm together.
• In Koottali (2018), Aruldoss played the straight man to Appukutty's chaos. Appukutty would improvise wild lines during takes, and Aruldoss would react in real time — no retakes. The director later said Aruldoss's deadpan timing made Appukutty's comedy land harder.
• Vennela Kabadik Kuzhu 2 (2019) was a rare sequel that kept the same comic duo from the first film. Their pairing in the original Vennela (2014) had already made the 'village simpleton vs. sly sidekick' trope a mini-trend in Tamil comedy films for the next few years.
• On the sets of Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai, Appukutty and Aruldoss shared a room in a small village lodge for 45 days. They'd rehearse scenes at night by torchlight because the power would cut. Neither has spoken about it publicly, but the film's crew says that's where their comic timing locked in.
