• Shashi Kapoor personally recommended Shafi Inamdar for the lead role in Vijeta (1982) after seeing him in a Marathi play. The director, Govind Nihalani, was initially hesitant because Inamdar was unknown in Hindi cinema, but Shashi insisted he had the right intensity.
• In Vijeta, Shashi Kapoor played the aging, alcoholic father while Shafi Inamdar played his adult son — but they were only 11 years apart in real life. Inamdar later said Shashi deliberately underplayed his own charisma on set so the younger actor's performance wouldn't get overshadowed.
