• B. Subhash cast Mandakini in 'Dance Dance' (1987) right after her debut in 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' — he bet on her dance background to sell a film that was basically a desi 'Flashdance' rip-off.
• On 'Commando' (1988), Subhash made Mandakini do all her own stunts — no body double, no safety harness. She later said he pushed her so hard she cried between takes, but the raw physicality is what made the action scenes work.
• Mandakini and Subhash had a massive falling out during 'Pyar Ke Naam Qurbaan' (1990). She walked off the set mid-shoot over payment disputes, and he finished the film with a body double for her remaining scenes. They never worked together again.
• Mandakini later told a tabloid: 'Subhash saab treated me like a soldier, not an actress. After Commando, my body was black and blue for a month.'
• The item number 'Mausam Mastana' from 'Commando' (1988) became a staple at North Indian wedding sangeets — it's the only thing from their collaboration that still gets played today.
