• Sithara was already a known face when she signed Maamiyar Veedu (1993). Ponnambalam was still a stuntman trying to break into acting. The director paired them specifically because he wanted a towering villain next to a soft heroine — the height difference alone sold the tension.
• In Pettredutha Pillai (1993), Ponnambalam refused to tone down his physicality for their scenes together. Sithara later told a magazine that his raw energy forced her to act more defensively — which made her character's fear look real instead of performed.
• During the shoot of Thirunelveli (2000), Ponnambalam would bring Sithara homemade snacks from his wife's kitchen. She said it was the only thing that got her through the 14-hour outdoor schedules in the heat.
• Sithara once said in an interview: 'Ponnambalam never treated me like a co-star. He treated me like a little sister he had to protect — even when his character was supposed to kill mine.'
