• Gajaraj was a last-minute replacement in Kabali. The original actor dropped out days before the shoot. Mime Gopi personally vouched for him to director Pa. Ranjith, saying Gajaraj could match his own intensity in the gangster scenes.
• In Adanga Maru, they played rivals who never share a single dialogue. Their entire conflict is told through stares and body language. Mime Gopi later said Gajaraj's stillness forced him to dial down his own performance — making their face-off scenes the most tense in the film.
• They had a ritual before every scene together: a silent 10-second stare-down. Gajaraj started it during Kabali to get into character. By Kanni Maadam, they did it even for comedy scenes — and the crew would just wait.
• Their pairing in Kabali directly led to Gajaraj being cast as the main villain in Adanga Maru. The director saw their test footage and rewrote the antagonist role specifically for him — a part originally written for a much older actor.
