• Thyagarajan and Goundamani first shared screen space in Paayum Puli (1983) because director S. P. Muthuraman needed a comedian who could match Thyagarajan's intense action-hero energy. Goundamani was still finding his footing in comedy, and Thyagarajan personally vouched for him after seeing his stage work.
