• Prabhu and Kanaka first paired up in Kumbakarai Thangaiah (1991) because director G. M. Kumar needed a fresh, earthy pair. Kanaka was already a star in Malayalam, but this film marked her Tamil debut — and Prabhu, then a rising hero, personally requested her for the role after seeing her performance in a Malayalam hit.
• In Jallikattu Kaalai (1994), Prabhu and Kanaka created a rare on-screen rhythm where he played the loud, impulsive village hothead and she matched him beat-for-beat with sharp, sarcastic comebacks. Kanaka later said in an interview that Prabhu would deliberately pause mid-dialogue to let her land her punchlines harder — a trick he learned from his father Sivaji Ganesan.
• Their fourth film together, Periya Kudumbam (1995), was a massive family drama that directly launched the career of comedian Vadivelu — he played a small supporting role and got noticed by bigger directors because of his scenes with Prabhu and Kanaka. Without this film, Vadivelu's big break might have come much later.
• On the sets of Thalattu Ketkudhamma (1991), Prabhu and Kanaka developed a running joke: every time a scene required them to cry, they'd challenge each other to finish the shot in one take. Kanaka won most of those bets — Prabhu admitted years later that she could cry on cue faster than anyone he'd worked with.
• Kanaka once told a Tamil magazine: 'Prabhu is the only co-star who never made me feel like a newcomer. He would rehearse with me even after the director said cut — that's why our scenes look so natural.'
