• Saritha was already a star when she agreed to do Malaiyoor Mambattiyan (1983). Thyagarajan was a newcomer. She insisted on him as her hero after seeing his screen test — the director had to fight the producer to keep the pairing.
• On the sets of Komberi Mukkan (1984), Thyagarajan would deliberately flub his lines in the first take just to make Saritha laugh. She'd then reset the scene with a sharper delivery — and he'd match her intensity in the next take. That push-pull became their signature.
• Shankari (1984) was the first Tamil film where the female lead's name was the title and she had more screen time than the hero. That film directly inspired the trend of heroine-centric titles in the mid-80s — like Naan Sigappu Manithan and later films.
• After Dharmam (1986) flopped, Thyagarajan stopped taking calls from Saritha for nearly a year. She later said in an interview that she thought he was angry at her. Turns out he was just embarrassed — and too proud to admit he'd lost his confidence.
