• Karthik was a newcomer when he signed Viswanathan Velaivenum (1985). Jeevitha was already a known face. She personally recommended him to the director after a screen test — that film became his launchpad.
• In Dharma Pathini (1986), Jeevitha played a strong-willed village woman. Karthik matched her intensity by dialing down his usual romantic hero energy — he let her lead every confrontation scene. That film is still remembered for their equal-footed arguments.
• Raja Mariathai (1987) was their last film together. It flopped hard — 1/10 on most rating scales. But the failure directly led Karthik to shift to character roles in the 1990s, a move that saved his career. Jeevitha never worked with him again.
