• M. Muthaiah was a stunt choreographer before turning director. He cast G. Gnanasambandam as his lead in Kutti Puli (2013) because he wanted an actor who could do his own action scenes without a double. Gnanasambandam said yes on one condition: Muthaiah had to let him design the fight choreography together.
• On the sets of Komban (2015), Muthaiah would block the action sequences first, then Gnanasambandam would step in and re-time every punch and fall to match the rhythm of the background score. Muthaiah later admitted he stopped planning fights after that — he just let Gnanasambandam take over.
• During the shoot of Marudhu (2016), the two had a falling out over a script change. They didn't speak for three days. Muthaiah finally broke the silence by showing up at Gnanasambandam's hotel room with a box of vadai and a printed copy of the original scene. They rewrote it together that night.
• The success of Komban (2015) directly led to Muthaiah being offered his next film, Devarattam (2019), by a producer who saw the raw energy between him and Gnanasambandam. That film launched a new action-hero template in Tamil rural cinema.
• Muthaiah once told a magazine: 'Gnanasambandam doesn't act — he bleeds. Every time he took a hit on set, I felt it in my own bones. That's why I kept calling him back.'
