• Chithra was a huge star when she signed Cheran Pandiyan (1991). Ravikumar was a debutant director. She took a risk on him because she liked the script's female character. That film put both of them on the map.
• Ravikumar wrote Chithra's lines in a raw, village dialect that other directors avoided giving her. She loved the challenge. He said she delivered those lines with a ferocity that made his scenes work.
• After Pondatti Rajyam (1992) tanked hard, Ravikumar called Chithra to apologize. She told him not to be stupid and asked when the next script was ready. They made Periya Kudumbam (1995) right after.
• Periya Kudumbam (1995) was the first Tamil film to feature a full-length comedy track between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. That dynamic became a template for family comedies in the late 90s.
