• Sarath Kumar and Roja Selvamani first shared screen space in Suriyan (1992) because the director, R. K. Selvamani, was Roja's husband. He cast his wife opposite Sarath to launch her as a leading lady — and the pairing stuck for three more films.
• In Indhu (1994), Roja played a mute village girl. Sarath had to carry every conversation alone — his dialogue delivery became the rhythm she reacted to. He later said that acting opposite a silent Roja forced him to sharpen his own timing.
• Roja Selvamani has said in interviews that Sarath Kumar was the only co-star her husband, director R. K. Selvamani, never felt insecure about. The two men were close friends, and Sarath would often stay for dinner at their home after pack-up.
• Their 1999 film Chinna Durai was the first Tamil movie where Sarath played a dual role — and Roja played both his love interests. That double-act directly inspired the template for later Sarath double-role films like Nattamai.
• Sarath Kumar once told a magazine: 'Roja is the only heroine who never complained about my height. She'd just say, 'Stand straight, I'll manage the camera angle.' That's trust.'
• In Arasu (2003), their last film together, Roja played a cop — a rare action role for a heroine back then. Sarath deliberately slowed his fight scenes so her punches would land on cue. He told the stunt director: 'She has to look stronger than me in this one.'
