• Mohanlal and Gouthami's first film together, Iruvar (1997), was a career-defining moment for both — it was the only time Mohanlal played a Tamil political leader based on M. Karunanidhi, and Gouthami's performance as the fictionalized Jayalalithaa figure earned her a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress.
• In Iruvar, the scene where Gouthami's character delivers the line 'Naan oru thadavai sonna, nooru thadavai sonna madhiri' (If I say it once, it's like I said it a hundred times) is still quoted by Tamil audiences when referencing strong-willed female characters.
• Their third collaboration, Manamantha (2016), was a rare bilingual — shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu — and it marked the first time Mohanlal and Gouthami shared screen space after a 19-year gap since Iruvar.
