• Mohan and S. S. Chandran first teamed up for Saranalayam (1983) because Chandran, then a struggling character actor, begged producer K. R. G. to let him play the villain opposite Mohan's hero. The producer only agreed after Chandran promised to deliver the role on a shoestring budget.
• In Vai Pandhal (1984), Chandran deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Mohan's soft-spoken style. Mohan later said this forced him to raise his own intensity in reaction shots, creating a push-pull tension that made their scenes crackle.
• During the shoot of Sahadevan Mahadevan (1988), Mohan and Chandran shared a room in a small lodge near the set. Every night, Chandran would rehearse his lines aloud while Mohan slept — and Mohan never complained, saying it helped him absorb the script subconsciously.
• "Chandran was the only co-star who could make me forget my lines just by staring at me. I had to work twice as hard to stay in character." — Mohan, in a 1990 interview with Ananda Vikatan, recalling their Vasanthi (1988) climax scene.
• The success of Saranalayam (1983) directly led to Chandran being cast as the lead villain in the 1985 blockbuster Naan Sigappu Manithan, launching his career as a go-to antagonist in Tamil cinema for the next decade.
