Partnership facts

• Vishal personally called Thiru after reading the script for Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai (2010). He wanted to produce it and star in it. That phone call launched their partnership.
• On Samar (2013), Thiru wrote the climax fight sequence specifically around Vishal's real-life boxing training. Vishal didn't use a stunt double for that scene. The director choreographed the punches to match the actor's actual rhythm.
• During Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014), Vishal and Thiru had a falling out over the film's final cut. Vishal wanted a different ending. They didn't speak for months after release. They never made another film together.
• Thiru once said in an interview: 'Vishal is the only actor who would let me try something new every time. He never said no to a single scene I wrote.'
• The success of Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014) directly led to Vishal producing and acting in Paayum Puli (2015) with a different director. That film's action style borrowed heavily from the raw, street-level fights Thiru had designed for their collaboration.
