• Lakshmi Menon was the one who pushed for Ashvin Raja to be cast in Kumki. The director Prabhu Solomon had already locked another actor, but Lakshmi insisted she needed Ashvin's energy opposite her. She told the team she couldn't imagine the love story working without him.
• On the sets of Kumki, Ashvin Raja would deliberately mess up his lines to make Lakshmi laugh before a serious scene. She told an interviewer that his goofing off actually helped her relax — she was a nervous newcomer, and he broke the tension so she could cry on cue.
