• Sithara once said in a 1992 interview: 'Rahman made me feel like I was the only actress in the frame. He never once made me feel like a newcomer — even when I was one.'
• Their third film 'Pattondru Ketten' (1991) was the first Tamil movie to have a single-song soundtrack that played over the entire end credits — a format later copied by at least four other Tamil rom-coms in the 1990s.
• Rahman and Sithara shared a tiny vanity van on all three films because the budget was tight. They developed a ritual: before every love scene, they'd high-five and say 'just acting, da' — a phrase Sithara still uses when asked about their pairing.
• Director K. Balachander handpicked both Rahman and Sithara for 'Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal' (1989) after seeing them separately in stage plays. He wanted fresh faces who could handle complex emotional beats — and cast them without a single screen test.
• On the sets of 'Manaivi Vantha Neram' (1990), Rahman would deliberately flub his lines in the first take to make Sithara laugh. She then started doing the same to him. The director had to call a five-minute break every time they broke character.
