• They first shared screen space in LOC Kargil (2003), but they barely had a scene together — she played a soldier's wife, he played a soldier. Their actual pairing started with 36 China Town (2006), where director Abbas-Mustan cast them as a bickering couple after seeing their individual comic timing in separate films.
• In 36 China Town, Akshaye played the straight-laced, suspicious husband while Isha played the flirty, possibly-cheating wife. She set the pace with her playful energy, and he reacted with deadpan suspicion — that push-pull made their scenes crackle. He later said she made him loosen up on set.
• During the shoot of Salaam-e-Ishq (2007), Isha and Akshaye would rehearse their romantic scenes in a corner away from the rest of the cast. The director, Nikhil Advani, noticed they had a natural rhythm and let them improvise the 'pillow fight' scene — it became the most talked-about moment of their track.
