• Sivakumar personally recommended Sridevi to director Devaraj-Mohan for 'Kavikkuyil' (1977). He had just seen her in a Malayalam film and told the team she was the only one who could play the young poet. She was 13 at the time.
• In 'Sayndhadamma Sayndhadu' (1977), Sivakumar deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery so Sridevi's lines would land harder. He told the director that her reactions were the scene's real payoff — he was basically setting her up to steal every frame.
• During the shoot of 'Machanai Paatheengala' (1978), Sivakumar's wife Lakshmi would bring homemade snacks to the set. Sridevi later said she felt like she had an older brother and sister looking out for her — she was only 14 and away from her family in Kerala.
• Sridevi once said in a 1990s interview: 'Sivakumar sir treated me like a child artist even when I was playing a lead. He would rehearse with me for hours before the camera rolled. I learned patience from him.'
• The success of 'Kavikkuyil' (1977) directly led to Sridevi being cast as the female lead in '16 Vayathinile' (1977) — the film that made her a superstar in Tamil cinema. Sivakumar's co-starring role gave her the visibility she needed to land that breakthrough.
• In 'Machanai Paatheengala' (1978), Sivakumar improvised a comic bit where he pretends to trip over a stone to make Sridevi laugh on cue. The director kept it in the final cut because her genuine laughter became the scene's best moment.
